JEWELRY CARE

JEWELRY CARE:

We take pride in providing a wide range of price points and styles for our customers giving you different quality options. The following descriptions will give you a better understanding of the piece you are buying.

Gold Plated over Stainless Steel: This is the highest quality of them all outside of solid gold. Styles plated over stainless steel are non tarnishing, hypo allergenic and water proof. You still want to wipe off at the end wearing it with a small jewelry cloth. Will last longer than normal plated items.

Gold Filled: Thicker coating of gold. Gold filled items will wear longer than gold plated pieces but still need some love as these items are not 24k solid gold. To clean your gold filled pieces, use a mild jewelry cleaning solution and run under water and pat dry. * Gold filled can still get dull and fade if there is heavy wear, constant perfume/hair chemicals, sea salt water and chlorine are constantly getting on it.

Gold Plated over Sterling Silver: Some styles are plated over .925 sterling silver making them a higher quality than gold plated over brass items. Styles that contain sterling silver will not turn green or brown. They can handle getting wet - however we don't recommend it showering etc. with them on a daily basis.

Sterling Silver: Sterling silver tarnishes when exposed to salty air, chlorine, sulfur, humidity, perspiration, cosmetics, household bleach and other strong chemicals. To prevent tarnish as much as possible, we recommend that you store your fine jewelry in a safe, dry place when engaging in the following activities:

  • Household and outdoor chores
  • Showering, bathing or swimming in pools, hot tubs, hot springs and the ocean
  • Using lotion, hair products, fragrances and other cosmetics
  • Exercising at the gym or during contact sports
  • Preparing meals

Solid Gold:These heirloom pieces are perfect for everyday wear and getting wet. For ultimate longevity, here are some helpful tips:

  • Removing all jewelry before being exposed to chemicals of any kind (including cleaning chemicals, lotions, soaps, and makeup) before exercising, swimming, showering, doing outdoor work or gardening, and before heavy lifting.

  • Clean your jewelry regularly using warm water, gentle soap, and a soft toothbrush on biweekly basis.

  • Store your jewelry individually in a soft pouch or padded jewelry box when not in use. Necklaces to be always clasped when stored away, hanging position preferred, if inside the pouch - make sure to keep the clasp outside to avoid tangling.

  • Use proper wear techniques. Avoid wearing jewelry on fingers right next to each other on an everyday basis, as to prevent stones rubbing against one another.
